Information on environmental measures of JSC “Uralelectromed” for 2009
Annual environmental programme of JSC “Uralelectromed” has been almost executed for all intents and purposes. Expenses for its realization made up 52.6 mln. rubles.
The main site (Verkhnyaya Pyshma)
Storm water works have been in progress. The storm sewer project designed by NPF “Eco-Project” has been adjusted to maximize application of water treatment equipment available at hydrometallurgical part of Chemical and Metallurgical Production. In addition some administrative and technical measures were performed to reduce effluents discharge to the Klyuchi Lake and to enhance storm run-off’s quality. The construction of pipeline for supply of sewage water from central and east collectors to the existing water treatment plant was completed. We analyzed blowing modes for recycling water supply system and selected the optimal mode.
The dust-exhaust system of gas treatment plant of Chemical and Metallurgical Production was commissioned including reconstruction of cooling scrubbers spray line.
Hydrological, hydrobiological and ichthyological researches of the Klyuchi Lake and Pyshma River were performed to get information about current ecological state of these water bodies.
The subsidiary “Non-ferrous alloys production” (Verkh-Neivinsky)
The factory completed works on drainage and storm water treatment. Treatment and pumping facilities were built and a pipeline for storm discharge from the site to water treatment plant was laid. To improve the technology of drainage and storm water treatment they carried out tests on different kinds of sorbents and silica sand and selected optimal ones. An additional purification stage with petrochemicals removal was installed.
Hydrological, hydrobiological and ichthyological studies of the Neiva River were conducted.
The subsidiary “Polymetals production” (Kirovgrad)
Significant funds (about 20 mln. rubles) have been channeled to keep operating efficiency of bag filters at the design level at the metallurgical plant. They purchased 16 thousand of filter bags.
The factory has proceeded working on design documentation on reconstruction of settling pond and construction of storm sewer at the industrial site. These projects are interconnected and aimed at improvement of the effluents quality, and consequently at mitigation of negative effect on the neighboring water units.
To decrease industrial impact on the environment, the factory has organized processing of produced metallurgical slag.
The norms and standards of environmental documents
The following documents were elaborated and ratified by regulatory authorities:
- new Draft norms of acceptable effluents into the water bodies of Verkhnyaya Pyshma’s site, ‘Polymetals production’ and ‘Non-ferrous alloys production’;
- new Draft waste generation standards and waste disposal limits for all sites.
A new license for carrying out activities associated with Uralelectromed’s waste treatment (including all sites).
For the next 5 years the following documents were received:
- permit for pollutants discharges into water bodies of the main site and affiliates “Polymetals production” and “Non-ferrous alloys production”;
- disposal limits (for all sites);
- Decision on assignment of water bodies to use for effluents for the main site and affiliates “Polymetals production” and “Non-ferrous alloys production”.
EMS (Environmental Management System)
In 2009 the sphere of Ecological Management System (EMS) implemented at the JSC “Uralelectromed” in 2004 was extended. It covered another 7 departments of Uralelectromed. As of today, EMS is applied in 40 departments. In December 2009, Uralelectromed’s EMS was recertified for compliance with International Standard ISO 14001. It is evidenced by the inspection audit carried out by the Russian Register Company.
Environmental monitoring
We have accomplished full-scale environmental monitoring and conducted soil investigation in waste disposal areas and at the boundary of sanitary protection area, atmospheric air, including under plume sites investigations and at the bounds of residential areas, as well as examined underground and surface water, fresh water, snow, etc. Environmental analytical control of pollutant sources and applicable rules observance is completely fulfilled. версия для печати |
