In 2010 expenditures for implementing the Ecological program by JSC “Uralelectromed” made up 50 million rubles.
The main site (Verkhnyaya Pyshma)
In 2010 the enterprise continued organization of storm runoffs cleaning. Also it has made additional investigations in the sphere of storm runoffs cleaning technology with application of existing water cleaning equipment situated in the hydrometallurgical department of the chemical and metallurgical plant. It was proposed a new concept scheme of storm and blowoff water treatment with its separate cleaning. Moreover, the block of storm runoffs related to the northern collector was designed.
Non-Ferrous Alloys Production (Verkh-Neivensky)
The subsidiary was engaged into adjustment of storm and drainage water treatment plant operating modes. Content of copper, lead, iron and zinc in current post-treatment discharges does not exceed given standards and regulations.
Polymetals Production (Kirovgrad)
Storm water treatment was arranged within the year: design assignment was prepared and approved and a tender on engineering company selection was held. In the near future a system for industrial storm water collection and treatment will be designed.
In 2010, renovation of the tailings pond was commenced at the neutralization plant of the subsidiary. Dam raising costs made up 7 million rubles. As the result of renovation, industrial wastewater treatment will be improved and life of the tailings pond will be extended.
Great funds have been allocated for gas treatment facilities of the metallurgical plant. To maintain the design efficiency of gas treatment, 20,7 ths. filter sleeves to the amount of 32 million rubles have been purchased and replaced.
For the purpose of diminishing man-made impact on the environment, 170,7 ths. t. of metallurgical slag have been treated in concentrator.
Environmental standards and regulations development
Draft maximum permissible emissions, wastes and waste disposal standards have been developed and approved by regulatory authorities, and all required permits were obtained for the future 5 years for all Uralelectromed production sites.
Sanitary protection zone feasibility studies of Verkhnyaya Pyshma site, Polymetals Production and Non-Ferrous Alloys Production have been completed. The RF Chief State Sanitary Officer Regulation was obtained for Verkhnyaya Pyshma site, which finally determined sanitary protection zone decreased up to 330 m from the production site borderline. It became possible due to air protection activity.
Quality Management System
In November 2010 OAO “Uralelectromed” again confirmed that its Environmental Quality Management System met regulations of international standard ISO 1400. It was stated by certification audit carried out by “Russian register”. At present the Quality Management System is implemented at 49 divisions of the company.
Environmental monitoring
In 2010, all the divisions of OAO “Uralelectromed” fulfilled the scheduled monitoring of environment that is atmosphere, ground, surface and portable water, snow and soil. Environment analytical monitoring of environment polluting resources and observance of the adopted permissible standards was also completed.
