Construction of copper sulphate production was started in 1936. The output of the first products was on September, 1939.
Pyshma Copper Electrolyte Plant achieved its design capacity by 1940. Approximately 70% of total USSR blister copper was processed at the plant by this time. Subsidiary of Sverdlovsk Mining and Metallurgical College was opened in 1940 under the plant patronage.
Grate Patriotic War became the ordeals for the company’s workers. All professional workers went to the front and they were replaced by women, old men and teenagers. Approximately 80% of total amount of shells and cartridges was produced from the copper of Pyshma Copper Electrolyte Plant. Production of special alloys based on copper and nickel was started at the plant for manufacturing of guide collar of long-range artillery shells. Specially constructed bimetal production allowed the supply of rifle cartridge units to defense industry plants.
To satisfy high local demand for refined copper after the end of War the Plant (managed by Nikolay M. Galyanov) was directed to put new production facilities into operation, to perform technical re-equipment and to reconstruct the productions under operation without production output decrease, process strengthening and labour productivity rise.

Hero of Socialist Labour Boris A. Krivousov - Director of “Uralelectromed” Combine from 1970 to 1982 | Children musical school was opened in 1947 under initiative of Pyshma Copper Electrolyte Plant’s workers. The Plant took participation in putting of the first conduit line into operation in 1954. Gasification of dwelling houses was started in 1965. Hospital block was built in 1957. Stadium was constructed in 1962 and the Palace of Metallurgists Culture was appeared in the next year.
New slurry production was put into operation at the plant in 1962. By the end of 60’s Pyshma Copper Electrolyte Plant produced 40% of refined copper and 70% of copper ingots of USSR total production.
The main direction of the plant operation during 70’s (the Plant was managed by Boris A. Krivousov) was reconstruction and technical re-equipment of existing production at minimal costs. Construction of the first local metallurgical complex for continuous smelting of copper cathodes – shaft furnace – was commenced on May, 1972 and it was put into operation on October, 1976. Copper refining furnaces were rebuilt at the copper smelter in 1971-1975 to increase production by 35%. Process of copper electrolyte refining at high current density and with current reverse was developed at the tank house. Calcination selenide method for slurry treatment was introduced to slurry production.
Ural Combine on Copper Electrolytic Refining and Treatment “Uralelectromed” based on Pyshma Copper Electrolyte Plant was founded on February, 1975. The Company included Pyshminskiy mine, dressing mill and Kyshtym copper electrolyte plant located in Chelyabinsk region. New copper powder production was put into operation in 1979. The Company is the only local producer of copper electrolytic powder with value properties which are useful for manufacturing of metal-ceramic articles and pressed parts used in automobile, aircraft, machine-tool and other productive industries.
Copper foil tank house, cathode plates preparation line and cathode stacking line were put into operation at copper tank house and construction of copper wire rod production was commenced at “Uralelectromed” Combine (managed by Vyacheslav F. Korovin) during 89-90’s.версия для печати |
