History – the beginning |
The history of copper business is started from two documents of XIX century evidencing copper ore discovery.
On March 21, 1854 (Julian Calendar) the manager of the plant, Vasiliy Mikhaylov, Sigov’s son, submitted an application to the Ural Mining Administration with information about discovery of copper ores in neighbourhood of Pyshminsko-Kluchevskoy gold mine located 12 versts far from Verkhisetskiy plant. On August 12, 1954 (Julian Calendar) he submitted the second application to the Ural Mining Administration with consideration that this place is seemed as “reliable for further development” and presentation of the plan with description prepared at officially stamped paper.
The deposit was named as Pyshminsko-Kluchevskoe and settlement built at this place had the name of Medny Rudnik. The first Ioanno-Bogoslovskaya mine was laid in 1854 and copper smelter started its operation in 1867. Ore mining and copper production was stopped during the Revolution and Civil War. The plant worked during 2 years after war and it was completely stopped in 1926.
