Non-Ferrous Metals Production

Non-Ferrous Alloy Production is the town company located at the address of 4, Revolution square, Verkh-Neivinsky. It is a subsidiary of OAO “Uralelectromed”.

The production consists of main smelters and auxiliary workshops and areas.

Main smelters are:

- Lead-babbit smelter;
- Pig iron and steel foundry (smelter).

Auxiliary workshops are:

- Maintenance shop;
- Utilities shop;
- Railway operations;
- Road transport shop;
- Utilities working area.

Lead-babbit smelter

Today this smelter is targeted to implementation of new process flow sheet for treatment of secondary raw materials containing copper and precious metals using shaft furnace and ore-smelting furnace.

1. Shaft furnace allows processing of following materials:

- secondary iron-bearing copper being a conversion product of zinc production and containing Cu 5%, Au 20 g/t and Ag 400 g/t.
- “Karabash” converter slag containing Cu 10%, Au 2 g/t and Ag 80 g/t.

2. Ore-smelting furnace allows processing of following materials:

- ESP lead concentrate (SUMZ’s dust) is a semi-fabricated product to be treated together with copper raw materials at Vanukov furnace. It contains Cu 13%, Au 2 g/t and Ag 90 g/t.
- Silicate slag is a semi-fabricated product to be treated together with decoppered slag at reverberatory furnace of chemical and metallurgical workshop. It contains Au 50 g/t and Ag 5000 g/t.

Copper matte under TU00194429-110-2010 is an output product to be used as a raw material for further treatment to produce blister copper.

Reduction of copper and precious metals losses and enhancement of UMMC’s copper production technical and economic indexes are the tasks of above mentioned materials processing.
