Gaiskiy GOK open pit mine excavated ore as much as 10, 000 Eiffel towers

Since its commissioning in 1959, has open pit of Gaiskiy GOK (a plant of the raw material division of UMMC-holding) mine excavated the 100 millionth ton of copper pyrite ore. The amount equals to about 15 and a half of Cheops pyramids or 10, 000 Eiffel towers.
At present Gai GOK continues to develop Osenniy and Levoberzhnyi deposits of Dombarovskaya Group by open-pit method. Together with rich copper-pyrite ores it mines off-balance ore from a dump No14 of Gai deposit. In 2016, the total amount of copper-pyrite ore mined by open-pit method was 2.6 mln t.
In addition to copper bearing ores Gaiskiy GOK develops South-Kirovskiy gold deposit in Kvarkenskiy region of Orenburg region showing throughput of 590ths. t. According to Sergey Budchenko, Chief Geologist of Gaiskiy GOK in 2017 the plant is to start exploitation of one more gold deposit – Belozerskoye.
