The amount of investments in development of the underground mine of Gaiskiy GOK (enterprise of metallurgical complex of UMMC) in 2016 will exceed 1.3 billion rubles. These funds will be spent on implementing of strategic project of enterprise development for the opening and development of deep horizons of the underground mine (830-1310 meters).
Currently, the construction of concrete mortar unit on the horizon 1,075m has been completed. Another subject of construction, which will be put into operation in the 2nd quarter of 2016 – is repair unit for self-propelled machinery and mining equipment situated on the horizon of 990 meters. Proximity of this maintenance point will allow faster repair works. In addition, the deepening of the "Skipovaya" mine shaft will be continued, where it is planned to transport the rock mass from the lower horizons of underground mine on the floor of 1,070 – 1,310 meters. Mine construction engineers will initiate the mining and capital construction works and installing the equipment of crushing and conveyor complex number 5. It is located at around 1,095 meters and designed for crushing and transporting the ore to the shaft of "Novaya" mine from depths of 990 and 1,075 meters.
Reconstruction of the underground mine is aimed at increasing its capacity to 7 million tons of ore per year. "In fact, Gaiskiy GOK is developing a new mine within the existing mine. This will allow us to increase the existing capacity of ore extraction at our underground mine"- said the Chief Engineer of Gaiskiy GOK, Alexander Tulenkov.
