JSC “Uralelektromed” to ramp up circulating water capacity by a third

JSC “Uralelektromed” (an enterprise of UMMC metallurgical division) set about designing a new cooling tower of 3,000m3/h for Anode Casting Plant. This project will result in a rise in circulating water capacity by a third and exceed 4mln. RUB.

As reported by Arseniy Kasatkin, Project Manager, JSC “Uralelektromed” is about to boost copper sulfate production, which requires an extra volume of pure circulating water. Putting the new cooling tower into service will make it come true.

The new cooling tower design will be more compact than the existing one. The pumping station will be mounted separately. It will increase the performance and will help to improve the maintenance of the equipment of the entire industrial facility.

At the moment the Design Engineering department is working at a project of pipelines and networks and the foundation for the construction of the cooling tower and pumping station. The project is planned to be ready in Q1 of 2020. Currently, the total load on the existing cooling tower is about 6.5 thousand cubic meters per hour. The main consumers of cooled water are the smelter (1,100 m³ per hour), the copper powder production, chemical-metallurgical plant (120 m³ per hour), and the copper sulfate production (1,100 m³ per hour).
